BIOGRAPHY

Jarran Kentrel Reed was born on December 16, 1992, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Today, he holds the distinguished title of a professional American football player, performing as the nose tackle for the renowned Seattle Seahawks team of the National Football League (NFL). His journey through athletics and academics has crafted him into an esteemed sportsperson, leading to his substantial success in the sporting industry.

Reed’s journey in football began in Goldsboro High School from where he graduated in 2011. Without a promising academic background, Reed faced challenging circumstances leading him to enroll in the Hargrave Military Academy for building his academic foundations stronger. During his time in Goldsboro and later in Hargrave, his athletic prowess was apparent, which provided him a starting point towards his football career.

In 2012, Reed entered East Mississippi Community College. Here, he showcased his athletic capabilities by demonstrating remarkable defensive skills. By 2013, he was a pivotal element in leading his team to the NJCAA national championship win. During his stint at East Mississippi Community College, Reed achieved the exceptional record of 100 career tackles including 10.5 tackles for loss.

His demonstrated abilities created a burning desire within Reed to further his athletic development. Thus, recognizing the significant opportunities ahead, Reed transferred to the University of Alabama in 2014. His first season at Alabama marked a stellar display of his capability in the sport, as he played in all 14 games and successfully made 13 starts. At the end of the college football season, he had accumulated 55 tackles and one sack, impressive numbers for any game player.

By the end of 2015, Reed was contemplating entering the NFL draft, however, he opted out of this decision and decided to continue his term at Alabama for his senior year. Demonstrating his robust football skills, Reed helped his team secure a victory in the College Football Playoff national champion. His senior season concluded with an impressive record of 57 tackles and one sack.

In the 2016 NFL Draft, Reed was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the 49th overall pick in the second round. He officially signed a four-year deal with the Seahawks on May 5, 2016, which was worth $4.889 million overall, including a $1.756 million bonus. During his tenure with the Seahawks, he experienced an impressive rookie season, followed by a rise in performance during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. His track record displayed a constant upswing in development and performance, preceding a minor suspension for a personal conduct violation in 2019.

After his return from suspension, Reed was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2021 with a one-year, $5 million deal, including performance incentives that could potentially increase his payout to $7 million. During his season with the Chiefs, he began all 17 games, accomplishing 43 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

In March 2022, Reed signed a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Green Bay Packers. This deal included incentives for Reed to increase his salary to $4.5 million with a $1.865 million signing bonus. Reed ultimately returned to the Seattle Seahawks in March 2023, securing a two-year, $12.8 million contract.
