Jared Verse's Biography

Jared Verse, born on November 4, 2000, has been making his mark in the world of professional American football ever since his successful collegiate career as a linebacker for Albany Great Danes and Florida State Seminoles. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Verse has consistently excelled in football, and today, he is well recognized as a professional linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams, a team that competes in the esteemed National Football League (NFL).

Growing up in Berwick, Pennsylvania, Verse’s talent in football became noticeable at an early age. He attended Central Columbia High School where he showcased his abilities while playing as a tight end for their football team. The opportunity to compete at this level allowed Verse to accumulate valuable experiences, setting him up for the success he later found in his college and professional careers.

On deciding to further his education in Albany University, Verse redshirted his freshman season, using the opportunity to build on his football skills. Despite the shortened redshirt freshman season played in early 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Verse demonstrated his worth on the football field by making 22 tackles with 10 tackles for loss, and contributing to four sacks over four games. These notable performances didn’t go unrecognized; he was named to the second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and won the esteemed title of the conference’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.

In 2021, Verse continued his strong form, reflecting his determination and passion for the sport. He garnered the prestigious title of first-team All-CAA, following a season in which he made 53 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and forced one fumble.

However, demonstrating a desire for new challenges, Verse announced in 2022 that he was transferring colleges to Florida State University, where he got selected to play for the Seminoles. His first season with the Florida team proved to be as successful as his time with Albany, recording 48 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks. Following his second season with the Seminoles, Verse declared for the 2024 NFL draft.

In a significant career milestone that further bolstered his reputation as an exceptional linebacker, the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the first round, 19th overall, of the 2024 NFL draft. This selection was not only a testament to Verse’s growing career but also highlighted the confidence placed in him by the Rams, since the last time they had invested a first-round pick was in 2016 with Jared Goff.

The transition from college football to the NFL could be daunting for some, but for Verse, it was another opportunity to prove his mettle. He recorded a sack in his NFL debut against the Detroit Lions in Week 1, demonstrating that he was a force to be reckoned with on the field. His exceptional rookie performances in September led to him being named the Defensive Rookie of the Month. During that period, he managed 19 total tackles, 5 for loss, and contributed to a sack.
