Born to Satoya Powell and the late Paul N. Roberson Jr. in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Roberson’s penchant for football emerged out of the picturesque canvas of high school football at Hertford County High School in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Whilst fraying his junior and senior years, Roberson etched a commendable record, amassing 66 receptions for 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns and 76 receptions for 1,370 yards and 15 touchdowns respectively. The high school accolades seamlessly flowed in, as he earned a title on the NCPreps 2A All-State team during his senior year along with All-Northeastern Coastal 2A Conference as a junior and senior. A seasoned player, Roberson proved his agility in basketball as well, earning the title of All-District during both his sophomore and junior years.

A shining star amid his peer group, Roberson emerged as a consensus three-star wide receiver out of high school. Marked in the top 50 in the state by 247Sports, Roberson awaited a panoply of offers from schools as reputable as East Carolina, NC State, and Old Dominion. The final decision, however, took him to Wake Forest, where he played under the guidance of the baptismal head coach Dave Clawson.

Roberson’s prowess blossomed on the turf of Wake Forest upon his enrollment in June 2017, despite sitting out of his freshman year. Buoyed by his role as a scout team player of the week, following the team’s victory over Syracuse, Roberson kick-started his 2018 season as a redshirt freshman. Despite injuries lurking in the 2019 football season, Roberson swiftly bounced back on the field, starting against Elon in week 4. This game saw him shine once again as he etched his first career collegiate touchdown on the records.

In his redshirt junior year, Roberson broke new grounds as the team’s starting slot receiver. His outstanding performances culminated in an all-time high for receiving yards per game (102.9) at Wake Forest. His relentless pursuits and admirable play stirred the attention of Pro Football Focus, who graded him as the nation’s second-best receiver. Building on his legacy in Wake Forest, Roberson held the national spotlight once again in the preseason first-team All-ACC team in 2021. Devoted towards preparing for the NFL draft 2022, Roberson abstained from the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game citing a minor knee surgery.

Come April 2022, Roberson signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. Following his waivers by the Cowboys, Roberson navigated his career through the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Rams practice squads. Following waivers and a brief stint at the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks, Roberson found his footing in the Canadian Football League. He was a part of the BC Lions in 2023, later signing up with Calgary Stampeders in 2024.
