Geron Christian's Biography

Geron Christian Sr., born on September 10, 1996, is an accomplished American professional football player in the position of offensive tackle. Over the years, he has lent his sporting talents to several reputable National Football League (NFL) franchises, the most recent of which is the Los Angeles Rams.

A former high school basketball player, Christian grew up in Florida, where he attended both West Port and Trinity Catholic High Schools in Ocala before graduating from the latter in 2015. His next academic pursuit saw him attending college at Louisville, where he would shift his primary focus from basketball to football, choosing to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Gerald Christian, also an NFL player.

As a 3-star recruit with several impressive offers from prestigious schools, Christian originally committed to Miami before deciding to switch his pledge to Louisville. During his time at Louisville, he shone as a remarkable football player, recording an impressive start in all 39 games of his career, a trend he began from his first year.

In January 2018, after completing his junior season, Christian decided to forfeit his senior year to enter the 2018 NFL draft. His decision did not come after the affirmation of the NFL’s underclass advisory committee regarding his chances of being selected in the critical first or second round. Despite this, Christian pressed forward, participating in the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Although deemed likely to be a fourth-round pick, the Washington Redskins still drafted Christian in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Signing a four-year rookie contract valued at $3.74 million in June 2018, Christian’s NFL career with the Redskins was unfortunately cut short after he suffered a torn MCL during the 10th week of play and was placed on injured reserve.

In 2020, Christian was promoted to the starting left tackle position with the Redskins, replacing Trent Williams. However, a knee injury in Week 6 again had him placed on injured reserve. In May 2021, Christian was waived by the Redskins and claimed by the Houston Texans the very next day.

As part of his profession, Christian moved around, signing a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2022. However, he was waived in January 2023 when Mecole Hardman returned from injured reserve. Yet, Christian didn’t stay a free agent for long, being claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins just a day later.

His fluctuating career saw him serving as part of the practice squads for both the Texans and the Cleveland Browns later in 2023, and in 2024, Christian signed with the Tennessee Titans. Still, his tenure remained short-lived and he was released before the end of August.

September 2024 marked the start of his contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Despite the diverse geographical and team changes Christian has faced, his determination to excel in his role as an offensive tackle remains untamed. As a professional player in the NFL, Christian Sr. has shown fortitude, talent, and commitment to the sport he loves, marks of a truly dedicated athlete.
