Geno Stone's Biography

Born on April 19, 1999, Geno Stone is a prominent figure in American professional football, particularly known for his position as safety for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). Having grown up in the quaint town of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Stone’s journey to the NFL was paved with notable achievements and experiences in both high school and college football.

Stone first stepped onto the football field as a student at New Castle Junior/Senior High School. He held a diverse range of roles on the team, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the game as he played wide receiver, quarterback, and defensive back. But his prowess was not limited to football. He was an all-round athlete, part of both the basketball and track & field teams. His love for the game, coupled with his natural athleticism, earned him the honor of being named first-team All-State as a senior. He demonstrated impressive athleticism and grit with 97 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, and 10 interceptions.

In the world of college football, Stone was initially a 2-star recruit who committed to Kent State, favoring it over offers from a multitude of other universities. But receiving a late offer from Iowa changed the course of his collegiate career. Stone’s tenure at Iowa was marked by significant personal and team accomplishments. In his freshman year, he appeared in all 13 games, mainly on special teams, wrapping up the season with 17 tackles and one interception.

As a sophomore, he moved up to a starting position, showcasing his defensive skills with 39 tackles as well as a forced fumble and four successful interceptions. His college career culminated in a stellar junior year, where he recorded 70 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, four passes disrupted, three forced fumbles, and one interception. Following a strong season, he chose to forgo his final year of NCAA eligibility and entered the 2020 NFL draft.

Stone was picked by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. His time with the Ravens was a rollercoaster of ups and downs, with periods on both the active roster and the practice squad. However, a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list and subsequent activation could not prevent his waving by the Ravens in late December 2020.

The New Year brought Stone a new opportunity as he was picked up off waivers by the Houston Texans. However, a lack of a qualifying offer saw Stone return to the Ravens in March 2021, signing a one-year deal. An impactful presence throughout the season, Stone started his first career game in Week 15, recording his first career interception in the season’s final week.

As the 2022 NFL season loomed, Stone was named the starting free safety in Week 6, stepping in after a teammate was placed on injured reserve. Displaying his consistent performance and tenacity, he concluded this season with 38 total tackles, a defended pass, and a forced fumble. He also led the Ravens in tackles in his subsequent game.

Showing his value to the team, Stone re-signed with the Ravens on a one-year contract in 2023. Throughout the season, he dominated the field and led the league in interceptions among the safety positions. Stone’s relentless performance and commitment did not go unnoticed, and he signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2024.
