Fabian Moreau's Biography

Fabian Moreau is an American professional football cornerback and was born on April 9, 1994. Currently, he plays for the Minnesota Vikings team of the National Football League (NFL). His journey in professional football spans several renowned teams, including the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. Moreau’s fascinating football career launched from his high school days in Davie, Florida, where he steadily amended his skills.

While attending Western High School in Florida, Moreau displayed prowess in both the running back and wide receiver positions. As a 3-star recruit, he successfully caught the attention of several colleges. Eventually he committed to UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) choosing it over esteemed institutions like Boston College and Vanderbilt.

At UCLA, Moreau switched his position from running back to cornerback. His tenure at the institution lasted from 2012 to 2016. Quickly becoming a vital player, he became a starter during his sophomore year in 2013. His performance at UCLA was impactful with him making 149 tackles and three interceptions in his career. Despite an unfortunate foot injury in 2015 causing him to miss most of the season, he bounced back strongly.

As he approached completion of his time at UCLA, Moreau was viewed by the majority of NFL scouts as a promising late first or second round pick. His skill was proven once again during his participation in the 2017 East-West Shrine Game where he greatly contributed to the West’s win with impressive performance. Although he declined an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl due to minor injuries, he accepted an invitation to the NFL combine. While he completed most of the drills, he decided to skip the bench press to avoid any potential injuries.

During UCLA’s pro day, however, Moreau suffered a pectoral injury during his bench press, which was later discovered to be a torn pectoral muscle requiring surgery. Despite this setback, all 32 NFL teams had dedicated representatives to scout Moreau and other UCLA prospects. The setback caused Moreau to be projected to fall to the third round due to his injury history and a saturation of cornerbacks in the draft.

Following his surgery, he was selected by the Washington Redskins in the third round (81st overall) of the 2017 NFL draft. He emerged as the 12th cornerback selected in the draft. After being officially signed to a four-year contract worth $3.33 million, Moreau joined the Redskins competing for the starting nickelback position.

At the start of the football season, he was placed as the Redskins’ fifth cornerback behind several other teammates. However, he was quick to leave a mark, making his professional debut and recording his first career pass deflection soon after.

Moreau made a solid place for himself in the team and eventually replaced fellow player Josh Norman, cementing his spot in the Football Team. During one of his initial matches, he made a significant impression by intercepting two passes thrown by Jeff Driskel, contributing heavily to the team’s win.

Despite a subsequent injury, Moreau returned in the 2020 season, quickly making his impact with successful interceptions in games against Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals, ensuring crucial wins for the Washington Redskins. Following his successful stint with the Redskins, Moreau signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons in 2021 and later joined the Houston Texans, only to be released shortly after.

In 2022, he signed with the New York Giants and managed to leave a mark in every game he played. His consistent performance earned him a promotion to the active roster, ending the season on a high note with his career-best statistics. After his time with the Giants, he signed with the Denver Broncos in 2023 and eventually the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

Born to parents Berg and Guerly Moreau, Fabian Moreau grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his two sisters, Faby and Fabriana. Outside of his football career, Moreau holds a degree in Political Science from UCLA and was twice named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. A dedicated athlete, Moreau admires the likes of Michael Jordan and former Oregon running back LaMichael James, and enjoys playing basketball and working out in his spare time. He is proud of his Haitian heritage.
