Erick All Jr. is a significant name in the world of American professional football. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, on September 13, 2000, he grew hard-earned recognition for his contribution as a tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that is part of the prestigious National Football League (NFL). His journey in football stretches back to his college days, revealing a tale of perseverance, skill, and near-divine intervention.

As an infant, All’s life took a trying turn, shaping his willpower and influence on the pitch today. When he was only five months old, he found himself in a deadly predicament. During a house fire at their family home in Richmond, Indiana, All was hopelessly trapped in his playpen on the house’s second floor. Fortuitously, Firefighter Tom Broyles bravely ascended a ladder amidst the engulfed inferno, entered the smoke-filled nursery, and spirited away baby All to safety.

Life had momentarily slipped away from All during his infant ordeal, but the valiant efforts of emergency medical technician, Shawn Phenis, who administered CPR, bought him back. This episode of survival remains close to All’s heart, with him inviting his rescuer to a Michigan football game in the 2022 season. It was a touching moment of reunion between the two, marked with an emotional embrace.

All’s journey through the education system was just as noteworthy as his existential beginnings. The Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Ohio is where All discovered his knack for football. By his senior year, he was achieving commendable feats on the pitch, from catching 30 passes to covering 465 yards and scoring four touchdowns. His excellent performances caught the eyes of talent scouts. ESPN rated him the No. 10 tight end in Class 2019, the No. 18 prospect in Ohio, and regarded him a three-star prospect.

As a strong recruit, All verbally committed to play for the University of Michigan in the summer of 2018. After a mere six months in December of the same year, he penned his intent to enroll. He exited his freshman year of 2019 after impressing during spring practice and having participated in 11 games as a tight end and on special teams.

All’s sophomore year in 2020 saw him appear in all six games and catch twelve passes covering a total of 82 yards. His junior year in 2021 was even more impressive; he completed 34 passes for an aggregate of 374 yards and two touchdowns. Particularly memorable were his games against Michigan State, where he caught ten passes for 98 yards, and against Penn State, where he pulled off the game-winning touchdown despite a high ankle sprain.

Unfortunately, 2022 was a challenging year for All when he could only appear in three games and recorded a total of 36 yards from three receptions. The setback was due to a back injury that called for surgical intervention. Shortly after his surgery in December 2022, he announced his move into the NCAA transfer portal, facilitating his transfer to Iowa.

While at Iowa, All managed 21 receptions, 299 yards, and three touchdowns, proving his worth time and again. His college football career was sufficiently impressive to catch the eye of the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL. They picked All up in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft with the 115th overall pick.

During his rookie campaign with Cincinnati, All competed in 9 games, boasting a total of 20 receptions for 158 yards, an achievement sidelined in Week 9 due to a season-ending torn ACL.
