Dez Fitzpatrick's Biography
Desmond Emil “Dez” Fitzpatrick, born on December 17th, 1997, stamped his identity in the American professional football arena as a wide receiver. He currently represents the Los Angeles Chargers, one of the standout teams of the National Football League (NFL). Before embarking on his professional journey, Dez honed his football skills at college-level, where he represented the University of Louisville Cardinals.
Fitzpatrick’s ascension into the NFL happened seamlessly, thanks to the 2021 NFL draft, where the Tennessee Titans picked him in the fourth round as their 109th overall selection. As a fresh recruit, Dez did not have to wait long before signing his maiden four-year rookie contract with Tennessee, a significant event in his career that transpired on May 17, 2021.
However, the initial phase of his journey was not devoid of challenges. He lasted just over three months at Tennessee before being waived on August 31, 2021. But the promising wide receiver was immediately re-signed to the Tennessee practice squad. His consistent performance led to his promotion to the active roster on November 13, 2021. This move came following the placement of Julio Jones on injured reserve.
Within days of joining the active roster, Fitzpatrick made a notable impression, scoring his first career touchdown in a game against the Houston Texans on November 23. He caught an 18-yard reception from Ryan Tannehill to reach this landmark in his young career.
Tennessee continued to be his abode until August 30, 2022, when he was again waived by the franchise but was retained in their practice squad the very next day. Unfortunately, his contract with Tennessee as part of the squad expired post the season on January 7, 2023.
The young footballer’s journey, however, did not stall. Dez soon signed a reserve/future contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 11, 2023. Similar to his stint with the Titans, Fitzpatrick was waived by the Steelers on August 29, 2023, only to be brought back to their practice squad shortly after. His dedication and performance led to his promotion to the team’s active roster on September 14.
His journey with the Steelers, despite being marked by a stint of revocation and re-signing, ended after nearly a year on August 27, 2024. A few days later, on September 2, 2024, Dez found a new home in the Los Angeles Chargers, where he was signed to their practice squad. With proven skills and fierce determination, Dez Fitzpatrick continues to be an asset to the Chargers and the NFL, his journey testifying to his fortitude and talent.
