De’Shaan Duane Dixon, an American born NFL player, is a dynamic force filling the role of a defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars. His early life began on December 16, 1998, in Chesapeake, Virginia where he later became recognized on the high school football field attending Western Branch High School. Although he only secured two college football offers post-high school graduation, Dixon exemplified determination and a commitment to fulfilling his athletic dreams.

Investing his time, energy and skill into the sport he loved so dearly, Dixon verbally pledged his commitment to Norfolk State over Virginia State on the 26th of January 2017. The following four years would prove his commitment to the sport, enrich his skill set, and develop his potential as an NFL player.

Dixon’s collegiate career, spanning from 2017 to 2021, was marked by significant achievements and continuous growth as a player. Over 42 games played at Norfolk State, he made a lasting mark with his impressive statistics. Dixon had racked up 154 tackles, breaking them down to 69 solo and 24.5 for a loss. Positioning himself as an aggressive asset on the defense, he recorded 14.5 sacks. The defensive end also showcased his multi-faceted abilities with one forced fumble, two recoveries, and 10 pass break-ups. After such a successful stint in college football, Dixon confidently declared his eligibility for the 2022 NFL draft after his senior season.

On May 2, 2022, Dixon’s career took a new trajectory; he was inducted into the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL draft. As the preseason final cutdown loomed, Dixon stood strong and was a part of the 53-man roster heading into the 2022 season.

However, Dixon’s journey wasn’t a straight path to stardom. On August 29, 2023, he was released by the Jaguars but found himself re-signed to the practice squad, an event that may have dented his professional pride but certainly did not shatter his resilience. Early in the new year, on the 8th of January 2024, Dixon locked in a reserve/future contract with the team.

Unfortunately, Dixon faced a major hurdle in his promising NFL career when he was waived/injured by the Jaguars on August 8, 2024. Having suffered a severe ACL injury, Dixon found himself returning to the Jaguars’ injured reserve list after having gone unclaimed. The serious nature of his injury presented a major challenge but it also brought forth an opportunity for Dixon to demonstrate his unwavering resilience and commitment to the sport and to his dreams of success in the NFL.
