Deon Bush, born on August 14, 1993, is a thriving American professional football player who currently plays as a safety for the Kansas City Chiefs, a team in the National Football League (NFL). Bush has demonstrated extraordinary skill, agility, and passion for the game since his early years, paving his journey to become an iconic football figure today.

Bush’s football career started to bloom when he began playing college football at Miami. His performance as a young, ambitious player engendered several opportunities, and soon he found himself being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft.

Entering the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Bush was picked in the fourth round as the 124th overall selection. Displaying great potential and future promises, he entered into a rewarding four-year contract with the team, valuing at $2.8 million, complemented with a signing bonus of $526,216.

September 25 became a significant date, marking his NFL debut against the Dallas Cowboys. This was swiftly followed by his first career tackle against the Green Bay Packers in his third-ever career game. By November 20, he was making his first career start and proved his worth by logging seven tackles. Within the same year, he had his first pass breakup recorded against the Green Bay Packers on December 18. In the aftermath of his rookie season, he had marked his presence with six starts in eleven games, a commendable 22 tackles and one pass breakup.

Bush continued his journey, managing six tackles across 13 games in 2017. But 2018 brought a monumental moment in his career when he recorded his first NFL sack on November 22, bringing down Matthew Stafford in the second quarter of the Bears’ victorious game against the Detroit Lions.

By December 23, Bush had earned his place starting as the free safety in the game against the San Francisco 49ers, replacing an injured Eddie Jackson. His contribution assisting a 14-9 win for Chicago, recorded two tackles against the 49ers.

Anchoring his position in the team, the Bears re-confirmed their faith in Bush, signing him back on March 26, 2020. His prowess showed yet again during the second week of the 2020 season playing against the New York Giants, where he recorded his first career interception off a pass thrown by Daniel Jones, helping his team seal a 17-13 win. The year took a bleak turn when the pandemic reached into the football arena, leading to Bush being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Bears on November 8, 2020. However, after four days, his health allowed him to get back to the game.

Staying loyal to the Bears, Bush re-signed with the team on March 17, 2021. However, during the sixth week, he faced a setback by sustaining a quad injury and was placed on injured reserve on October 19, 2021.

By March 28, 2022, a new chapter began for Bush’s career. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, and his time with this team was marked with significant achievements, including a stunning victory at Super Bowl LVII over the Philadelphia Eagles. Bush continued his journey with the Chiefs, re-signing with them on April 3, 2023. Despite being released on August 29, 2023, he returned to the practice squad.

Soon after, Bush was signed to the active roster on December 16, and in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, he made a decisive interception on Lamar Jackson. This pivotal play led the Chiefs to victory, securing them a place in Super Bowl LVIII. The Chiefs’ triumphant battle against the San Francisco 49ers gave Bush his second consecutive championship.

Finally, on March 14, 2024, Bush once again re-signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on a one-year contract. After being released on August 27, 2024, he found his place back in the practice squad, a testament to his value and resilience in the exciting world of professional football.
