Demetrius Taylor's Biography

Demetrius Latron Taylor, known to his fans and teammates as a highly skilled American football defensive tackle, was born on May 27, 1999. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an indomitable spirit on and off the football field, from his collegiate years to his professional career.

Taylor’s football journey started in earnest at Appalachian State, where he participated in college football games between 2017 and 2021. He stood out within the Sun Belt Conference thanks to his impressive performance in the 2019 season, during which he led with three forced fumbles, demonstrating not only his natural talents and abilities but also his tenacious attitude and dedication to the game. Upon graduating, Taylor’s life took a significant turn when he landed his first professional engagement as a footballer. On April 30, 2022, shortly after the 2022 NFL Draft concluded, he was signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent. However, not long after his initial professional triumph, on October 27, 2022, Taylor faced a setback. He was waived from the Lions and re-signed to their practice squad, a period in his career that would test his mettle and determination even further.

Taylor continued his stint at the professional level when he signed a reserve/future contract on January 9, 2023. Regrettably, his tenure at the Lions was short-lived. On May 10, 2023, Taylor was released. This was followed by a suspension for the entire 2023 NFL season due to a violation of the league’s gambling policy.

Yet, these trials couldn’t extinguish Taylor’s passion for football. After enduring his season-long suspension, the young footballer received the news he had been waiting for. The NFL reinstated him on April 18, 2024, reigniting his pursuit of a professional football career.

A little more than a month later, on May 28, 2024, Taylor was signed by the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Despite the new opportunity, his stay in Canada was brief; he was released on June 2, 2024.

Undeterred by the career hiccups, on July 23, 2024, Taylor seized an opportunity to join the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League (UFL), continuing his professional career that had been punctuated with peaks and valleys.
