Demarcus Robinson's Biography

Born on September 21, 1994, Demarcus Dontavian Robinson initiated his professional career as an American football wide receiver as part of the prestigious National Football League (NFL). Today, Robinson commands attention in his current role for the Los Angeles Rams.

Raised in Georgia, Robinson harnessed his athletic prowess on the field at Peach County High School. Following high school, he harnessed his talent at an even greater level by choosing to play collegiate football at the University of Florida, rocking the field from 2013 to 2015.

Robinson’s freshman year in 2013 started off slowly, with only five receptions in seven games. He faced issues off the field as well, getting suspended twice after multiple failed marijuana tests. However, Robinson learned from these mistakes and in 2014 staged a colossal comeback. His standout performance included 53 catches for 810 yards and seven touchdowns. Despite missing the season opener due to failing another drug test, Robinson led the Gators in receptions during his junior year.

However, Robinson’s college career was marked with further disciplinary issues. Right before Florida State game in 2015, Robinson was handed a suspension due to his meeting with a marketing official, flouting NCAA and team rules. The incident marked his fourth suspension in three years with the Florida team.

Despite these tumultuous periods, Robinson’s determination and talent in football couldn’t be overlooked. Together with teammate Kelvin Taylor, he declared for the NFL draft before their final year. Despite a lukewarm response to their early entries, both were committed to their decisions.

During the NFL Scouting Combine, Robinson showcased his skills amongst 43 collegiate wide receivers in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later at Florida’s pro day. His impressive performances projected him as a 5th-7th round draft pick, with the Kansas City Chiefs selecting Robinson in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Robinson’s journey with the Chiefs was marked by consistent progress. His rookie season was significant more on the special teams, but the following seasons saw him play a more active role as a receiver, even after enduring the loss of key team members to injuries.

In 2019, Robinson reached a career zenith when the Chiefs triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. Although he didn’t record a target or catch during the game, his contribution on offense and special teams was invaluable.

Robinson started the 2020 season by re-signing a one-year contract with the Chiefs. He ended the season with 45 receptions for 466 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns, only to fall short in Super Bowl LV.

March 25, 2021, saw Robinson renew his contract with the Chiefs for another year, during which he made 25 receptions in all 17 games. However, his time with the Chiefs came to an end, and he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in March 2022.

Difficult times followed, with Robinson only playing two preseason games before getting released. He then became part of the Baltimore Ravens in August 2022, where he marked his debut with a career-high reception against the Carolina Panthers. But his stint with the Ravens was short-lived, and in June 2023, Robinson moved on to the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite a shaky start, Robinson found his groove with the Rams, making significant contributions throughout the 2023 season. As a testament to his performance, Robinson signed another one-year deal with the Rams in February 2024.

Robinson’s perseverance and dedication to the sport have been crucial to his journey, reflecting the influence of his uncle, former NFL wide receiver Marcus Robinson, who had his successful stint with teams like the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings from 1997 to 2006.
