Dean Marlowe Bio
Dean Marlowe is a former NFL safety from Queens, New York, born July 25, 1992. Listed by the NFL at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, he played collegiately at James Madison after attending Holy Cross High School in Queens. At James Madison, Marlowe was a four-time All-CAA selection, earning first-team recognition in 2012 and 2014.
Marlowe entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Carolina in 2015. His pro career included stops with the Panthers, Bills, Lions, Falcons and Chargers; Buffalo acquired him from Atlanta in November 2022, and the Chargers signed him to their practice squad in August 2023 before elevating him to the active roster that September. NFL reporting listed him among Los Angeles departures ahead of the 2024 season, so the Chargers are his last confirmed NFL playing affiliation rather than a current team claim.
A versatile defensive back, Marlowe was used at safety, in big-nickel packages and on special teams during his Buffalo tenure. Oklahoma State’s 2025 football media guide lists him in a defensive quality-control role, marking a move into coaching after his NFL playing career.
