Corey Peters's Biography

Corey Peters, born on June 8, 1988, is a retired professional American football player celebrated for his standings as a nose tackle in the National Football League (NFL). Campaigning high school football with the Louisville Central High, Peters earned distinction as the first-team all-state, laying down an impressive foundation for his professional career.

Commencing his college football journey with the Kentucky Wildcats, Peters demonstrated consistent drive and commitment. During his freshman year, he already started two games. The following year, he proved himself further by starring in the start of 12 games. His junior year saw him notch up 36 tackles, ten tackles for loss, and four quarterback sacks. This advancing trajectory continued into his senior year, where he achieved four sacks and a dozen tackles for losses. His remarkable performance led him to be named second team All-SEC as a senior.

The Atlanta Falcons recognized Peters’s exceptional abilities and selected him in the third round, 83rd overall, of the 2010 NFL draft. This marked the start of an illustrious professional career for Peters. On June 8, 2010, the Falcons signed him to a four-year deal, solidifying his place in the NFL.

Throughout the course of the 2014 season, Peters remained loyal to the Falcons, thanks to a one-year deal agreed upon on March 4, 2014. The following year, on March 10, 2015, Peters signed a three-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, marking new beginnings in his career. However, his momentum faced a setback when he tore his left Achilles tendon in a practice on August 20, 2015, compelling him to be placed on injured reserve the succeeding day.

Despite the setback, Peters bounced back impressively to sign another three-year contract extension with the Cardinals on December 1, 2017. This resilience manifested in the 2018 season when he started 15 games and attained a career-high 51 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Peters’s career faced another hurdle during the 10th week of the 2020 season when a knee injury rendered him unable to continue playing for the season. Consequently, he was put on injured reserve on November 19, 2020. Moving forward from the setback, Peters signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals on August 2, 2021.

In the ever-changing landscape of professional football, Peters signed up with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad on September 12, 2022. He was promoted to the active roster a month later, on October 12, 2022. After a rich career of 13 seasons in the NFL, Peters chose to retire from professional football on April 6, 2023.

In tribute to his lasting impact on football, particularly his alma mater, the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted Peters in 2019. Corey Peters’s journey encapsulates relentless pursuit of excellence, resilience in the face of setbacks, and a commitment to a game he dearly loved.
