He set national freshman records for receiving yards, total touchdown catches, consecutive games with a touchdown catch, and receptions. Kupp was named to the All-Big Sky Conference first-team in his freshman year and won the conference’s Freshman of the Year Award. Furthermore, he earned the Jerry Rice Award as the country’s best freshman player. His skill as a wide receiver was recognized as he became the first freshman to be named a first-team All-American since Randy Moss in 1996.

Throughout his college career, Kupp continued to shatter records and rake in accolades, both as a wide receiver and a punt returner. His sophomore and junior years were marked by continued success, including winning the Walter Payton Award in his junior year. In his senior year, Kupp broke nearly every major FCS career receiving record. By the end of his time at Eastern Washington, he had made history with 428 receptions, 6,464 yards, and 73 receiving touchdowns – all FCS records.

Despite being projected as a second or third-round pick, he was chosen in the third round by the Los Angeles Rams, commencing his professional career.
