Chris Wormley's Biography

Christopher Keith Wormley, known to the world as a skilled professional American football player, was born on October 25, 1993. Currently, he executes the role of a defensive end for the Baltimore Ravens, a team that plays in the National Football League (NFL). His journey through football has been marked by resilience, dedication, and memorable achievements starting from his school days in Ohio to his position at the Ravens.

As a young athlete growing up in Ohio, Christopher attended Whitmer High School in Toledo. His exceptional skills on the field were evident from an early age, commanding attention and recognition as he was named an all-state football player during his time there.

On graduating high school, Christopher enrolled at the University of Michigan in 2012 where he would play college football for the Michigan Wolverines. Unfortunately, during the summer training camp in August that year, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament causing him to sit out of play for the entire 2012 season, and received a medical redshirt as a result.

The following year, 2013, marked the beginning of Christopher’s recovery and reintroduction back onto the field. Now a redshirt freshman, he played in 13 games as a backup defensive lineman. In his subsequent sophomore year, he participated in 12 games, starting 6 of them.

Another step forward came for Christopher in 2015 when, as a redshirt junior, he featured in 12 matches, 10 of which he started. He truly began to shine in his performance, recording two sacks and eight tackles for loss during the season.

Returning to Michigan in 2016 as a fifth-year redshirt senior, Christopher’s leadership skills were recognized by his teammates who elected him and Jake Butt, a tight end, to be the team captains for that year. In a game against UCF on September 10, 2016, Christopher successfully blocked two field goal attempts, contributing to the 51-14 victory. During that season, he recorded 39 tackles, with nine being tackled for loss, and finished second on his team with six sacks.

In recognition of his impressive performance, Wormley was named in the All-BigTen Conference defensive first-team and was awarded a Second-Team All-American by Sporting News. Following the 2016 season, he entered professional football when the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the third round, 74th overall, in the 2017 NFL draft. This pick had been obtained by the Ravens after trading Timmy Jernigan to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Christopher made his NFL debut with the Ravens on October 8th, 2017, registering his first career tackle against the Oakland Raiders. The following week, he recorded two tackles and his first quarterback hit during his first start against the Chicago Bears. His rookie season, albeit short-lived due to injury, saw him participate in seven games, making two starts, five tackles, and a quarterback hit.

In 2020, Christopher was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers along with a 2021 seventh-round draft pick for the Steelers’ 2021 fifth-round pick. He played with the Steelers until the end of 2022, experiencing challenges like being placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury but also seeing successes such as recording his first sack as a Steeler.

Following a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers, Christopher returned to his former team, signing with the Baltimore Ravens practice squad in September 2024. Despite the ups and downs of his football career, including injury challenges, Christopher Wormley remains committed to being the best at his game, demonstrating an unwavering perseverance that continues to drive him through his journey in professional football.
