Chris Streveler's Biography

Christopher L. Streveler, born on January 6, 1995, is an American professional football player. He holds a prominent position as a quarterback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a team part of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Before stepping into his professional career, he played college football at the University of Minnesota and South Dakota.

After not being drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Streveler joined the Blue Bombers as a backup quarterback for two seasons. In 2019, under his game, the Bombers won the 107th Grey Cup championship. Throughout his career, Streveler has been associated with other reputable teams, including the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets.

Streveler’s journey in football launched at the University of Minnesota, where he played with the Minnesota Golden Gophers for three years before transferring to the University of South Dakota. As part of the South Dakota Coyotes, he shone, amassing a record 6,081 yards and 54 touchdowns, for which he received the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) Offensive Player of the Year award in 2017.

On May 4, 2018, post his college years and being undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Streveler signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. As Nichols, the main quarterback, suffered an injury, Streveler got his first start as a quarterback, becoming the first to do so coming straight out of college since 1994. He made the Bombers proud by winning his first CFL match.

The 2019 season began with Streveler as the backup quarterback. However, Nichols once again suffered an injury, giving Streveler the chance as the starting quarterback. Despite some ups and downs and an injury, he played a key role in leading the Bombers to win the 107th Grey Cup championship, marking their first victory in 29 years.

Post the successful season, Streveler was released to pursue NFL opportunities and signed a reserve/future contract with the Arizona Cardinals on February 4, 2020. He made his NFL debut on September 13, 2020, and even replaced the injured main quarterback in one of the matches.

In 2021, Streveler started as the Cardinals third-string quarterback but was waived in November. Following this, he signed to the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens, from which he moved to Miami Dolphins in February 2022. Though waived by the Dolphins in May, he signed with the New York Jets in July 2022.

Despite being waived by the Jets, he made a strong return, replacing a struggling player in the Jets game. He was ultimately released by the Jets in the following year on August 7, 2023, due to an injury he suffered during a game.

Undeterred by setbacks, Streveler made a comeback to his former team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, on January 31, 2024. He was offered a one-year contract, marking a full circle in his professional football journey, from his first professional stint with the Bombers to his most recent return.
