Chance Campbell

Chance Dixon Campbell, born on October 8, 1999, is an accomplished American professional football player. He plays in the linebacker position for the Tennessee Titans, a team in the prestigious National Football League (NFL). Prior to entering the professional field, Campbell had an illustrious college football career, spanning two significant institutions; the University of Maryland, and Ole Miss (University of Mississippi).

Campbell’s college career initially took flight at the University of Maryland. As a raw freshman, he mostly garnered playtime on special teams. With his sophomore year came an expansion of responsibilities, as he saw action in 10 games including two starts. The season presented Campbell ample room for growth and he exploited the opportunity, ending with an imposing record of 54 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one interception.

His prominence as a key player for the Terrapins was further intensified by his stellar performance in the university’s COVID-19-shorted 2020 season. Out of the four games he featured in, he led the team with 5.5 tackles for loss and 3 tackles. As expected, following the conclusion of another successful season, he made a decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

The former Terrapin’s expertise took him to the University of Mississippi as a graduate transfer. Proving worthy of the switch, Campbell excelled throughout all 13 games he played for the Ole Miss Rebels. He commanded respect on the field, notching up an impressive stat line of 110 tackles, the highest on his team, and distanced himself further from others with four forced fumbles and three fumbles recovered.

The 6th round of the 2022 NFL Draft saw Campbell’s hard work rewarded, as he was selected by the Tennessee Titans. However, a knee injury struck soon after, placing him on injured reserve on September 9, 2022. The year 2023 continued to present him with challenges after he was waived from the team as part of the final roster cuts before the start of the season on August 29. But Campbell’s journey with the Titans was far from over. A day after his release, he was signed to the team’s practice squad.

Shortly thereafter, on September 22, Campbell was promoted to the Titans’ active roster. Unexpected downs and ups followed, as he was waived again on October 28, only to re-sign to the Titans’ practice squad three days later. Showing resilience through every trial, Campbell found himself once again moving up to the active roster on November 11. However, his progress was significantly hampered when he sustained an injury during warmups before Week 10, necessitating his placement on the injured reserve list on November 15.

In 2024, the roller-coaster ride of professional football had Campbell experiencing another downtrend. Tragically, his season ended before it could even start with head coach Brian Callahan announcing on August 26 that the player had torn his ACL and would have to go through the season as a spectator.

In many respects, Chance Dixon Campbell’s journey is illustrative of the intensity, dedication, and resilience it takes to make it professional football.
