Caleb Huntley's Biography

Caleb Jarod Huntley, a professional American football running back, was born on September 15, 1998. A free agent now, Huntley’s career journey intertwined with football started in Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent his childhood years and attended Locust Grove High School.

Throughout his four years at Locust Grove High School, not only did he complete the cherished laurel of four-year letterman but also he donned the role of a varsity football player, mainly focusing on running back for four seasons. His prowess on the field saw him secure an impressive record with 3,135 yards and 30 touchdowns by the end of his career. Moreover, his stellar achievements in 2016 were the highlight of his high school career. As a senior, forging ahead with a bullish display of power, he managed to run for 1,487 yards, scoring 13 touchdowns leading him to be honored with the prestigious title of Region 4/5A Offensive Player of the Year.

Both records of single-season rushing and the number of rushing yards per game belonged to Huntley. Having over 100 rushing yards in every game of the season 2016, he was undoubtedly a force to reckon with. According to 247Sports, he was a 3-star recruit.

Although Huntley had initially committed to Western Kentucky, due to unsatisfactory grades in high school the team did not include him. Subsequently, he signed with Ball State. Despite the setback, in his freshman year in 2017, Huntley stunned onlookers by playing in all 12 games and leading the final seven. Not only did he rush 1,003 yards in 210 attempts, but he also ended up being the team’s leading rusher.

Thus, it was no surprise that he became one of the only two freshmen in Ball State history due to a thousand-yard sprint. His outstanding first-year was concluded with him winning the John Hodge Award for the best Ball State Freshman. But his sophomore year was cut short due to a severe season-ending injury against Northern Illinois.

In 2019, Huntley started 11 out of 12 games as a running back. He rushed 1,275 yards, thereby securing the third place in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) with an average of 106.2 rushing yards per game. Winning over 100 yards in all but one of the inter-conference heats, he earned the title of second-team All-MAC, and was named Ball State Offensive Player of the Year.

2020, Huntley’s senior year, presented another twist in his football journey as an injury limited him to just three games. Nonetheless, inspite of playing only a trio of matches, his performance was noteworthy enough to land him a spot on the all-conference team. However, instead of accepting the additional year of eligibility extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he decided to declare for the NFL Draft.

Huntley’s college career culminated with him clinching the seventh all-time spot in rushing yard records with 2,902 yards and a tenth place in the team’s history for his 21 rushing touchdowns.

The 2021 NFL Draft witnessed Huntley’s second wind, the Atlanta Falcons signing him up as an undrafted free agent. Though being waived in the final roster cuts on August 31, he was promptly reinstated to the practice squad. Climbing the ladder of success, in 2022 he was eventually signed to a future contract on January 10th which culminated in Huntley recording his first career touchdown during a game against the Cleveland Browns.

Unfortunately, by the fifteenth week, he had to back out due to a season-ending injury of a torn Achilles tendon. Despite this setback, he concluded the 2022 season on a high note with 366 rushing yards and a touchdown to his credit.

However, the following year, on July 25, 2023, the Falcons decided to release him from the team.
