Cal Adomitis's Biography

Callen James Adomitis, infamously known as the unfailing long snapper for the Cincinnati Bengals, was born on July 9, 1998, in the charming city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His athletic journey began at home, in the Central Catholic High School, where he manifested his profound skill in football as a tight end and long snapper, securing his place in the varsity team.

In commendation of his aptness and dynamism, Adomitis was beckoned by the University of Pittsburgh. As a true freshman, he substantiated his eloquent performance with immediate playing time in the long snapper position. Within the first season, he participated in all 12 games and marked his on-field presence by making two tackles. This trend of energetic participation continued into his sophomore year when he played in 14 games, earning four tackles for the year.

In 2019, as a junior, Adomitis left his irrevocable mark on the game, appearing in all 13 games that season and making four tackles. During 2020, he started in all 11 games, expanding his streak to a spectacular 50 consecutive appearances. The same year, he made one tackle and was subsequently honored with the first-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) long snapper status.

As a fifth-year player in 2021, he became the first NCAA-recognized All-American selection at his position. Adomitis graced every game with his presence and was named first-team All-American. In addition, he won the 2021 Patrick Mannelly Award, a prestigious recognition given to the best long snapper in the nation.

Despite not being selected in the eagerly followed 2022 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals recognized his talents and signed him as an undrafted free agent. Despite being waived from the roster in August, he was quickly signed to the practice squad the very next day. His chance to showcase his abilities came in September following an injury to the team’s long-time long snapper Clark Harris. He then ascended to the active roster, and his resilience was rewarded when he made his much-anticipated NFL debut against the Dallas Cowboys. He played in 15 regular season games, ending the season with two tackles. He also earned his playoff debut and captured an additional tackle during the Bengals’ three playoff games.

Consistent with his dedication, Adomitis was re-signed by the Bengals for another season on February 22, 2023. He started the season with a recorded tackle in their Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns and appeared in all 17 games during the 2023 season.

But his influence did not end on the football field. In 2021, Adomitis showcased his philanthropic side by raising over $114,000. He then generously donated the amount to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, demonstrating his commitment to his hometown and his athletic profession alike. Adomitis’ journey is a testament to his undying athletic spirit and his dedication to the community.
