Auden Tate's Biography

Auden Heanon Tate, a celebrated American professional football player, was born on February 3, 1997. As a seasoned football star, he has primarily held the position of a wide receiver and is presently regarded as a free agent.

Tate was born into athletic prosperity and began to put his skills to work as early as his high school days. He attended Paul R. Wharton High School, situated in Tampa, Florida, where he garnished his abilities and harnessed the passion required to drive him onto the field. Dreaming of a future in athletics, Tate committed to Florida State University, where he aspired to play college football.

From 2015 to 2017, he was an integral part of the Florida State team. He earned his stripes in the university’s over three years. At the end of his successful junior season in 2017, after considering his prospects and potentials, Tate made the daring decision to ditch his senior year. He decided to plunge into the professional realm, thus announcing his intention to join the 2018 NFL draft.

His college career showcased his talents and hard work. At Florida State, he had an impressive run with 65 to accept and 957 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns – an accomplishment that wrote him into the tapestry of the institution’s football history.

Tate’s career took a remarkable turn in 2018, with the Cincinnati Bengals drafting him in the seventh round, 253rd overall of the NFL draft. However, he was momentarily sidelined for the first six games due to being healthy. But on October 18, 2018, he re-entered the game, though this time as part of the practice squad after being waived. His dedication and grit rapidly propelled him to the active roster on November 5.

In the eleventh week, Tate made his first professional reception in a match that pitted the Bengals against the Baltimore Ravens. He made a valuable contribution with a five-yard catch but ended with a 24-21 loss on their scoreboard. In his rookie year, he accumulated four receptions for 35 receiving yards.

His prowess became more evident in the fifth week of the 2019 season when he caught three passes for 26 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. This match was noteworthy as it saw Tate score his first career receiving touchdown, though it ended with a 26-23 loss. Following this, he suffered a knee injury on December 10, 2019, and had to be placed on injured reserve. With tremendous resilience, Tate finished the season as the Bengals’ second-leading receiver, boasting 40 catches for 575 yards and one touchdown.

2020 came with a new set of obstacles. Tate was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team on November 25, 2020, but was active again by November 28. Nevertheless, on December 2, he was again saddled with an injury which led to him being placed on injured reserve.

The subsequent year, 2021, proved to be no less challenging for Tate. On December 4, he was once again placed on injured reserve, this time with a calf injury. The curveball didn’t stop there, for on March 28, he met a significant transition when he signed with the Atlanta Falcons. However, his stint here was short-lived as he was released on August 23.

Not letting his previous setbacks dampen his spirit, Tate was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad on September 7, 2022. However, he faced yet another obstacle as he was released from the Eagles’ practice squad on November 16, only to be re-signed the next day. Despite the rollercoaster ride, Tate was eventually released on December 13. His relentless spirit saw him press on, eventually signing on with the Cardinals’ practice squad on January 4, 2023. He also managed to sign a reserve/future contract on January 11. However, another twist occurred when he was released on June 12, 2023.

Auden Heanon Tate’s journey pivoted towards the Canadian Football League (CFL) as he signed with the Calgary Stampeders on February 16, 2024. Yet, this venture too was short-lived as he was released on June 2. Despite the numerous roadblocks, his passion and dedication to the sport remained, as he continued to persevere, seeking the next opportunity to make his mark in the realm of professional football.
