His outstanding performance also made him the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, marking him as the only defensive player among three quarterbacks named a finalist.

Following his successful college career, Hutchinson declared for the 2022 NFL draft. A professional career awaited him at the Detroit Lions, who selected him as the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft’s first round. He then signed a fully guaranteed four-year contract worth $35.7 million on May 9, 2022.

Impressively, Hutchinson started his rookie season strong. He set a Lions rookie record in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, recording three sacks.
