Born on the last day of the year 2002, Terquavion Lamont Smith has been making quite a name for himself in the world of professional basketball. Known amongst his peers by the phonetic quip, tər-KWAY-vee-on, Terquavion has been creating ripples in the pool of the sports world with his exceptional play style and undeniable dedication. He stands tall at 6-foot-4-inch (1.93 m), a height befitting a basketball combo guard, in the almost supernatural way he manoeuvres the ball across the court serves as an inspiration for budding athletes nationwide.

His journey commenced with a humble start and great potential at the Farmville Central High School in Farmville, North Carolina. As a senior at the institution, he showcased remarkable skills averaging 25.6 points, six rebounds, 5.8 assists, and notching up 3.2 steals per game. His performance contributed significantly to the impeccable record set by Farmville Central that year. This indelible display of talent promptly led to him being recognized as the Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year for North Carolina. A title that further amplified the anticipation surrounding his impending college presence.

Smith embarked upon his college journey with the NC State University. His freshman year saw him play in 32 games while taking the start in 25 of them. With an impressive average of 16.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, he demonstrated a promise of grandeur. His remarkable ability to pocket three-pointers was particularly notable. With 96 of them in his freshman year, he ranked fourth in the all-Atlantic Coast Conference’s (ACC) freshman history.

Confident of his skills, he decided to present himself for the 2022 NBA Draft. However, in a strategic move, he withdrew his name and returned to NC State for his sophomore year. This decision reflects the maturity he carries and his desire to refine his play before stepping into the professional arena.

The year 2023 held a bittersweet moment for Smith. While he went undrafted in the NBA draft, he was soon signed as an undrafted free agent by none other than the Philadelphia 76ers on the 23rd of June. On February 3, 2024, Smith graced the court with his prowess by scoring 17 points in a game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Further establishing his skill set on the platform of professional basketball, Smith signed with the Jiangsu Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on September 15, 2024. The American professional basketball player has been charting an upward curve in his career graph and promises great performances in the future.
