Shaquille Harrison, a well-known and accomplished professional basketball player, was born on October 6, 1993, in Kansas City, Missouri. Harrison’s profound love for basketball brought him towards a journey that would lead him into professional basketball. He has journeyed through various basketball clubs in his career, starting from college basketball to the highest level of professional basketball.

Standing 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) tall, Harrison’s athletic prowess became noticeable when he played for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at college level. Opting to play basketball over football, Harrison refused an offer to play football from Kansas. He didn’t just play for the Golden Hurricane, but he was a mainstay, a four-year starter who made a significant impact on the team.

Harrison’s glorious college career wasn’t without accolades. As a senior, he was named as the American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. His stats were impressive, managing an average of 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game while maintaining a respectable 3.135 grade-point average. He set records, becoming the only player in Tulsa history to register 1,300 points, 400 assists, and 200 steals over his career.

However, his shooting skills were called into question. He made only 19.5 percent of shots from behind the arc and only managed to hit 63 percent of his free throws. Despite his struggles, he never gave up.

After not being selected in the 2016 NBA draft, Harrison signed with the Phoenix Suns in September 2016, only to be waived by the Suns later that October. Nevertheless, Harrison’s unyielding determination earned him a spot on the Northern Arizona Suns, an affiliate team of Phoenix in the NBA Development League. In their season opener, Harrison scored 20 points, leading his team to a 122-106 victory over the Iowa Energy.

Throughout his professional career, Harrison has experienced several highs and lows. After working with the Phoenix Suns and their affiliate team, the Northern Arizona Suns, Harrison made his NBA debut in 2018, recording 4 assists and 4 steals despite a 128-117 loss against the Los Angeles Clippers. He later signed his second 10-day contract with Phoenix, leading to his first start in the NBA.

Despite a loss against the Charlotte Hornets in the game, Harrison performed commendably, recording a season-high of 14 points. This performance led to Harrison signing a multi-year deal with the Suns. Throughout the season, Harrison made considerable contributions to the team. His skill and dedication culminated in a career-high score of 18 points and 10 assists in a 124-97 blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Over the years, Harrison moved around various other clubs, including the Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers and Memphis Grizzlies. Along the way, he also played for several G-League affiliates, such as the Delaware Blue Coats, where he performed impeccably. He averaged 19.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.9 steals in 32.2 minutes per game over seven games.

Outside of the NBA, Harrison also ventured overseas and signed for LDLC ASVEL of the LNB Élite. Regardless of wherever he played, Harrison’s impact remained unquestionable. In fact, his defensive prowess in the G-League earned him the title of NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year twice.

Born to Jack and Michelle Harrison, he lost his father to a heart attack when he was still in second grade. His younger brother, Monte Harrison, followed in his footsteps, making their family proud as a college football and professional baseball player.
