Ja Morant (born August 10th, 1999) is a professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born and raised in Dalzell, South Carolina, Ja was always a sports enthusiast. He played football and baseball growing up and began playing basketball when he was five-years-old. His father, Tee Morant coached him throughout his youth.

In high school, Ja became one of the top prospects in South Carolina’s history after leading Crestwood High School to two state championships in 2016 and 2017. As a senior, Ja earned recognition by becoming one of five finalists for Mr. Basketball USA award along with Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Romeo Langford and Cam Reddish. He also led his team to an undefeated regular season record while being named Player of the Year by USA Today Sports as well as Gatorade Player of the Year for South Carolina twice consecutively in 2018 and 2019 before ultimately choosing Murray State University to continue his career at college level basketball instead of signing with other collegiate programs like Duke or Kentucky despite their offers due to feeling more comfortable with coaching staff at Murray State University .

At Murray State University , he made an immediate impact during freshman year averaging 24 points per game on 49% shooting from field making him only SEC player since Michael Jordan who have averaged 20 plus points per games on that much percentage from field . It also helped his team clinch Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship which awarded them NCAA tournament appearance where they were defeated by Marquette in first round Despite early exit from NCAA tournament ,he still got selected second overall pick in 2019 NBA draft behind Zion Williamson . After being drafted ,he moved towards Memphis Grizzlies where he began showing consistent improvement right away especially on defensive end resulting into All -Rookie First Team selection followed by unanimous All Rookie Second Team Selection this makes him first ever rookie since 1989 who received both honors same season earning even more respect among veteran players around league . His sophomore campaign has been even better than expected averaging 23 PPG 5 rebounds 7 assist including 4 triple double performances making people call him future superstar not just around Memphis but across NBA itself .

Outside Basketball Court ,Ja is known for having down to earth personality which makes it hard for people not liking him because even after becoming successful he kept reminding himself about struggles which paved way toward success And keeps motivating others around him through social media platforms such as Twitter & Instagram posts making sure everyone’s dream can come true if they work hard enough towards it regardless how tough circumstances may seem at times because nothing is impossible if you are determined enough inside your heart
