Danny Green is an American professional basketball player who currently plays shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on June 22, 1987 in North Babylon, New York to parents Danny and Lorraine Green.

Green attended St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, New York where he played high school basketball for four years before graduating in 2005. While at St. Mary’s he led his team to two consecutive CHSAA Class AA state championships and won an MVP award as a senior. After high school, Green chose to pursue college basketball at the University of North Carolina (UNC) instead of entering the NBA draft directly out of high school like many other players do today.

At UNC, Green suited up for four years and helped lead them to a National Championship victory in 2009 with eventual teammate Tyler Hansbrough by his side. During his college career he set several records including most three-pointers made by any Tar Heel player with 305 over four years and highest three-point percentage all time among Tar Heels at 40 percent plus a total field goal percentage of 49 percent during that same time period.. In 2009 he became just the third UNC player ever to be named ACC Defensive Player Of The Year alongside Michael Jordan and Antawn Jamison who preceded him in this honor back when they both played for UNC respectively .

In 2009 after completing his collegiate career Danny entered into the NBA Draft where he was selected 46th overall by Cleveland Cavaliers however shortly thereafter was traded along with J amario Moon to Toronto Raptors from whom later that year signed a multiyear contract .
