Scottie Lewis's Biography

George Scott Lewis Jr., born on March 12, 2000, is a professional basketball player hailing from The Bronx, New York. Currently, he’s a crucial member of the Niagara River Lions, a team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).

Lewis’ journey into the world of professional basketball started in high school, where he played for Ranney School in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. His exceptional talents didn’t go unnoticed, and he was unanimously ranked as a 5-star recruit from all major recruiting services for the class of 2019. His choice of college to continue his basketball career came on January 20, 2019, when he committed to the University of Florida.

He marked his entry into college basketball on October 2, 2018, by choosing the Florida Gators even when a prestigious team like Kentucky was available. His college basketball debut was a promising one, where he scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out two assists, leading the Gators to a 74-59 victory over North Florida.

His college career was filled with many noteworthy moments, one being when he scored 18 points in an 81-66 win against LSU on February 26, 2020. Another remarkable game was when he recorded a career-high 19 points on March 7, despite the Gators losing 71-70 to Kentucky. After the regular season, his consistent contribution earned him a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman Team.

For the 2020-21 season, he decided to return to Florida, but his performance was hindered due to contracting COVID-19. Despite the setback, he maintained an average of 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. By the end of this season, Lewis took a major step in his career by declaring for the 2021 NBA draft and hiring an agent.

He was selected as the 56th pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. On August 3, 2021, he was signed to a two-way contract for the 2021-22 season by the Hornets, splitting his time between the main team and Greensboro Swarm, their NBA G-League affiliate.

Unfortunately, the Hornets chose not to extend a qualifying offer on June 29, 2022, prompting Lewis to become an unrestricted free agent. During the 2022 NBA Summer League, he represented the Hornets but suffered a severe setback on July 7, 2022, by breaking his leg during practice, sidelining him indefinitely post-surgery.

Additionally, he was picked in the 2023 NBA G League draft by the Windy City Bulls on October 28, 2023, but was waived just days later on November 8. Early 2024 saw him briefly joining the Rip City Remix, only to be let go after nine days.

On February 6, 2024, he joined the Salt Lake City Stars followed by the Niagara River Lions of the CEBL on July 10, 2024. Despite the breaks and obstacles, Lewis Jr.’s journey in the world of professional basketball is a testament to his resilience, determination, and pure love for the game. As of now, he’s showcasing his talents in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, commanding the play for the Niagara River Lions.
