BIOGRAPHY
Landry Shamet is an NBA point guard who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018 and quickly became a fan favorite due to his skill and work ethic. The Oklahoma City native was born on March 13, 1997, and grew up playing basketball with friends around his neighborhood.
After graduating from high school, Shamet played college basketball at Wichita State University where he made quite an impact as a freshman. In 2017–2018, he averaged 11 points per game while shooting 44% from three-point range – earning him All-American honors and Big 12 Freshman of the Year recognition. His impressive play continued throughout his time at Wichita State and culminated in being selected 26th overall by the Sixers in 2018’s draft.
In Philly, Shamet found himself backing up all-star Ben Simmons but quickly worked his way into coach Brett Brown’s rotation with tough defense and long distance shooting – becoming one of the best 3pt shooters on the team (shooting 43% that season). During this rookie year, he also had some huge performances such as scoring 24 points against Boston Celtics in Game 1 of their Playoff series or hitting 8 threes against Denver Nuggets – setting a franchise record for most 3 pointers made in one game!
In 2019 Landry was traded along with Tobias Harris to Los Angeles Clippers where he met perennial MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard – learning from him greatly improved both Landy’s offense and defense games which led to somewhat of a breakout during 2019/2020 season when Lakers forward LeBron James named him “Most Improved Player” award recipient following Clippers win over LA Lakers late December 2019 leading to more playing time eventually culminating with famous 14 point 4th quarter comeback vs Dallas Mavericks early April 2020! This performance earned him respect around NBA circles which soon translated into more minutes off bench during playoffs even starting few games instead injured Paul George showing great poise despite larger than life stage provided which came full circle during trade deadline this 2021 when Brooklyn Nets shipped away Caris Levert & received Shamus among other pieces placing trust on young sharpshooter who proved himself many times under pressure!
Shamet continues to be one of top 3pt specialists around league despite not having consistent role coming off bench however future definitely looks bright for 23 year young guard who should get plenty opportunity learn & grow under veteran leadership present within Brooklyn Nets organization without any doubts making pro success seem only question mark left regarding potential future hall famer!
