Jaylin Galloway’s journey in professional basketball marries two continents and crafts a narrative that is both illustrative of passion and persistence. Born on December 21, 2002, in Townsville, Queensland, Australia, Jaylin inherited the love for basketball from his Australian mother and American father. This multicultural lineage laid the groundwork for his formidable career in professional basketball.

As a child growing up in the United States, Jaylin’s basketball education began in Atlanta, Georgia, where his agile mind and tireless dedication towards the sport began to shine through. He attended Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia, where he further honed his skills on the court, helping his high school team secure their place in the regional championship.

Upon graduation, Jaylin decided against the traditional path of college, instead opting to dive headfirst into a professional basketball career. This decision saw him move back to his birthplace, Australia, where he started his professional career as a development player for the Sydney Kings of the National Basketball League (NBL) in 2020. That season, he participated in eight games and recorded two points on his official statistics.

In the ensuing 2021-2022 NBL season, Jaylin saw a marked improvement in his gameplay. His impact on the court grew more significant, scoring 13 points in 14 games. His contribution was instrumental in the Sydney Kings clinching the championship.

Between seasons, Jaylin expanded his professional horizon by signing with the Mackay Meteors of NBL1 North in 2022, alongside his brother Kyrin. Although he qualified for the 2022 NBA Draft, Jaylin was unfortunately not selected.

Undeterred and persistently committed to his craft, Jaylin continued to perfect his gameplay with Sydney Kings. His efforts paid off in the 2022-2023 NBL season, during which he averaged 5.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, playing an instrumental role in the Kings successfully defending their championship. His off-season saw him team up with his brother Kyrin again, this time playing for the Ipswich Force in NBL1 North. Here, he showcased stellar performance, averaging 18.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game and propelling the Force to their maiden league championship win over the Gold Coast Rollers.

In March 2023, Galloway was rewarded for his unwavering loyalty and consistent performance as he signed a three-year contract extension with the Kings. After a brief stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2023 NBA Summer League, Jaylin’s commitment saw him participate in 23 matches during the 2023-2024 NBL season, averaging 10.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game.

His connection with the NBA was reignited in March 2024 when he signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association, only to be let go in August, following a brief tenure with the Wisconsin Herd. Immutable as ever, Jaylin returned to Australia, rejoining the Sydney Kings under a three-year deal in August 2024. His performance, however, took a hit in November of the same year when a shoulder injury sidelined him for an indefinite period.

Complementing his thriving professional career, Jaylin had the honor of representing Australia in international sports. In 2021, he played for the Australian men’s national under-19 basketball team at the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup and made his senior debut for the Australian national team a year later in a FIBA Asia Cup qualifying game against Taiwan.

Whilst Jaylin’s journey so far has been a mix of highs and lows, it’s worth noting that basketball runs deep within the Galloway family with his brother, Kyrin, also being a professional player.
