Cameron Payne is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 8th 1994 and attended prep school at Lausanne Collegiate School before committing to play college basketball for Murray State University.
Payne was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder as the 14th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. During his time in Oklahoma City, he developed into a reliable bench player, averaging 3.2 points per game over two seasons with the team. In 2017, Payne was traded to Chicago as part of a three-team deal which also included Toronto Raptors forward Serge Ibaka going to Orlando Magic.
Since joining the Bulls, Payne has made significant strides both on and off-the-court. He quickly established himself as one of their core players and set career highs across all major statistical categories during his first season with them; including points per game (7), assists (3) and rebounds (2). Off-the court he became a leader in community outreach initiatives such as Reading with Cameron – an event that encourages kids to read more books – and partnering with organizations like Boys & Girls Club of America or Feeding America where he helps out those less fortunate through charitable donations or food drives around Chicago neighborhoods.
In addition to making these positive impacts off-the court, Payne has continued to excel on it too; becoming one of only four players from his draft class still playing regular minutes this season – along with All Stars Karl Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis and Devin Booker – establishing himself as one of most promising young point guards in league today . Despite being limited due to injuries throughout much recent campaign however , Cameron remained determined throughout all setbacks ; hoping that when fully healthy again next year ,he can bring even higher levels energy , efficiency , intensity nd leadership both on ndoff court frm hereonout
