Bellator 300 is gearing up for an explosive night of MMA action as San Diego, California plays host to a bevy of title fights set for Oct. 7. This event was announced on Wednesday’s edition of The MMA Hour by Ariel Helwani and will feature four title bouts, including a grudge match between featherweight champ Cris Cyborg and one-time UFC bantamweight contender Cat Zingano.

The highly anticipated card will be headlined by heavyweight championship bout between current champion Ryan Bader and Linton Vassell in Bader’s fifth defense of the belt. In other middleweight action, lightweight champ Usman Nurmagomedov puts his title on the line against Brent Primus in what will mark his third defense since winning the crown back in 2017.

Flyweight champion Liz Carmouche is also set to defend her belt against longtime friend and training partner Ilima Lei Macfarlane from Hawaii in a fight that has been much talked about among fans within the sport leading up to October 7th’s clash at Bellator 300. Further broadcast details are yet to be announced but it is expected that this main card will air live on Showtime following prelims which should take place via MMA Fighting with more information due out shortly before fight night arrives next month.

This stacked lineup promises plenty of intense action as we head towards Bellator 300 where champions across three weight classes look to come away with their titles intact while Cyborg looks prove why she remains one of the most feared competitors on today’s mixed martial arts scene when she takes on former UFC star Zingano in San Diego later this yearRyan Bader was originally set to fight Fedor Emelianenko in a rematch for the heavyweight title at Bellator 300 however the Russian star pulled out due to injury and was replaced by Linton Vassell. This will mean that Bader is now taking on an opponent who has won nine of his last ten fights, including eight straight since joining Bellator in 2012. Bader took home the belt back in 2017 with a submission win over Phil Davis and he’ll be looking to make it five successful defenses when he takes on Vassell next month as ‘Darth’ looks to retain his throne atop the division.

At lightweight, Usman Nurmagomedov puts his title on the line against Brent Primus in what marks Nurmagomedov’s third defense since winning the belt back in 2017 from Michael Chandler. The Russian fighter has already proved himself capable of capturing gold having taken home two lightweight titles during his time competing for M-1 Global and ACB earlier this decade making him one of MMA’s top contenders coming into 2018.

Cris Cyborg defends her featherweight crown against Cat Zingano which should prove to be an explosive bout between two former UFC stars who have both gone through some turbulent times inside and outside of competition recently as they both look for a much needed return to glory within mixed martial arts this fall at San Diego’s Viejas Arena when they take each other on come October 7th at Bellator 300!

Comments:

I think Bader is going to have a tough time against Vassell, he’s coming in as the heavy favorite but I don’t think he should underestimate his larger opponent

It’s great to see Primus finally get a chance at the title after all these years. He’s been grinding it out on the regional circuit for ages now and deserves a shot at glory.

This fight card has some real potential. Cyborg vs Zingano could be one of the greatest female fights of all time and Usman-Primus looks like it has fireworks written all over it.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Nurmagomedov defend his belt against Brent Primus. He won that lightweight championship back in 2017, so this will be his third defense since then. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles such an experienced fighter.

Bader vs Vassell is shaping up to be quite an exciting fight too! Bader has been defending his heavyweight title with ease since 2017, but this could prove to be his toughest challenge yet

Carmouche vs Macfarlane might not have as much hype behind it as some of these other matchups do, but I think we’re still set for an amazing night of MMA action come October 7th!
