The fans have been waiting for Sage Northcutt to return to the cage and boy did he deliver! Just 39 seconds into his match against Ahmed Mujtaba, Northcutt pulled a Hisoka-like move out of his back pocket and submitted Mujtaba with a heel hook. It was an impressive display of skill that had everyone buzzing around the ONE Championship Fight Night 10 Johnson vs Moraes event.

“It feels great to be back,” said Northcutt in post fight interviews. “I wanted to make sure I put on a good show for all my fans that have been supporting me through this downtime.”

Northcutt started off strong, pushing forward with jabs before being taken down by Mujtaba who looked poised to advance position. But before he got the chance, Northcutt went for broke and rolled for the submission – much to everyone’s surprise – getting the tap in record time.

ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodong couldn’t contain his enthusiasm when discussing Northcut’s victory:

“What an awesome performance from Super Sage! We’re very proud of our fighters here at ONE Championship and it was so special to see him get back in there after such a long layoff.”

Not only did sage win his comeback match but also 50,000 in bonus money as part of ONE’s initiative providing additional prize money alongside its championship belts.

Since joining ONE four years ago, Sage has made quite an impression on those who follow the sport closely – especially at one point achieving both striking AND grappling bonuses within six months – proving himself as one of MMA’s most exciting stars over multiple disciplines…including submissions!
