Born in Fall River, Massachusetts on August 16th 1989, Tecia grew up with a younger brother. From a young age she was very active playing sports such as basketball, softball and track & field before settling into karate at the age of 6 after being inspired by her father’s own martial arts background. During her teenage years she trained multiple disciplines including Tae Kwon Do and Muay Thai which led to her competing in kickboxing competitions from 2009-2011 where she achieved a record of 5-1 as an amateur competitor. After graduating high school Tecia went on to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Florida Atlantic University while simultaneously training mixed martial arts under Henri Hooft at Hard Knocks 365 gym in South Florida.
In December 2011 Tecia made her amateur debut against fellow future UFC fighter Gabby Garcia going 1-0 before turning pro later that year with a victory over Kaiyana Rain via unanimous decision at XFC 15: Tribute gaining herself instant recognition due to winning Fighter of the Night honors for her performance while also picking up Fight of the Night honors alongside Garcia for their earlier matchup making it two awards from one night! Since then she has gone 8-2 as a professional MMA fighter losing only once to current Invicta FC Atomweight champion Michelle Waterson before taking part in The Ultimate Fighter season 20 tournament where Toro competed exceptionally well eventually finishing runner up after suffering defeat via split decision against Carla Esparza for whom would become crowned Strawweight champion upon entering UFC competition following completion of filming for show finale event which saw Torres compete three times that night when combined with exhibition matches between show contestants aired during series preceding main card bouts!
