Spike Carlyle is a professional mixed martial artist, who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Featherweight division. He made his official debut in the sport at UFC 246 in January 2020 and has since gone on to become one of the most promising fighters in all of MMA.
Carlyle was born and raised in San Diego, California and began training martial arts at an early age. Always driven by his competitive spirit, he first trained judo before transitioning over to Muay Thai when he was 12 years old. After just a few months of training Muay Thai, Carlyle entered his first amateur kickboxing tournament where he managed to win silverware against much older opponents. After this success, Spike decided it was time to take up MMA training as well and never looked back.
After competing on regional circuits for two consecutive years with impressive results (6-0 record), Spike earned himself a spot on The Ultimate Fighter reality show in 2018 where he went 1-1 before being eliminated from further participation due to an injury sustained during filming of the show. Following his exit from TUF 25: Redemption season, Carlyle resumed fighting regularly on various local shows where he won each fight via submission or knockout inside the distance – thus propelling him into the biggest stage of them all: The UFC Octagon!
His official debut came against Billy Quarantillo at UFC 246 where after three relentless rounds Carlyle emerged victorious via unanimous decision – establishing himself as a legitimate force within MMA’s Featherweight ranks right away! Since then Spike has continued to impress both fans and critics alike with exciting performances that always end either via spectacular finish or a narrow points victory – making him one of the most talked about names within his division today!
Outside of professional fighting career Carlyle can also be found teaching various martial arts classes around San Diego or mentoring young athletes looking for guidance in their own journey towards martial greatness – proving once again why “The Alpha Ginger” is such a respected figure amongst many people who are involved within sport itself!
