BIOGRAPHY

Roosevelt Roberts is an American-born mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was born on April 20, 1995, in San Diego, California. He started his professional career at the age of twenty-one and has since become a leading contender in the lightweight division.

Since beginning his MMA training in 2014, Roberts has rapidly developed into one of the top up-and-coming lightweights with victories over notable names such as Alex da Silva and Don Shainin. His most significant victory to date came when he knocked out Brok Weaver with a well placed head kick during their UFC Fight Night 153 bout on June 1st 2019. This earned him Performance of The Night honors and established him as an exciting fighter to watch moving forward.

Having trained wrestling for nearly 8 years prior to starting MMA, Roosevelt’s foundation is rooted firmly in grappling technique and submissions – which was proven by his impressive first round rear naked choke submission win over Thomas Gifford at UFC 236 last year (2019).
He further solidified himself as a top prospect by earning yet another Performance Of The Night bonus after submitting Matt Frevola via guillotine choke at UFC 244 earlier this year (2020).

Outside of competing inside the octagon, Roberts also serves as an ambassador for Youth On Their Own – a non profit organization that works to support homeless teens achieve self sufficiency through education & employment readiness programs. Moreover, he frequently visits schools throughout Arizona during time off from training camp where he speaks about not only leadership but also how important it is for young people to pursue their dreams despite all odds being stacked against them.
