Montana De La Rosa is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Women’s Flyweight division. She began her career as a professional fighter in 2014 and has since gone on to become one of the most successful female fighters in UFC history.
De La Rosa was born and raised in Texas, where she first developed a love for sports at an early age. She played basketball and competed in non-contact combat sports throughout high school before eventually becoming interested in mixed martial arts. In 2014, she made her professional debut at 18 years old with a victory against Brianna Smith at Legacy FC 39. Since then, De La Rosa has gone undefeated through five more fights with four wins coming via submission or technical knockout.
In 2017, De La Rosa signed with Invicta FC and made her promotional debut against Christina Marks at Invicta FC 24: Dudieva vs Borella that August. She earned Performance of the Night honors for her quick submission victory over Marks via guillotine choke just 1 minute into Round 2 of their bout after taking some heavy shots earlier on during Round 1 from Marks’ punches and clinch knees.[2] After two more victories inside the Invicta cage, Montana was called up by UFC to compete on season 26 of The Ultimate Fighter reality show which featured women competing alongside men for an opportunity to join the UFC roster.[3] During TUF 26 Finale event held December 1st 2017; Montana defeated Rachael Ostovich via unanimous decision earning Fight Of The Night bonus award.[4]
Since joining UFC in November 2017,[5] De La Rosa has gone 4-1 through five fights including wins over Nadia Kassem,[6] Mara Romero Borella[7], Andrea Lee[8],and Taila Santos[9]. On June 27th 2020 ,Montana faced off against Viviane Araujo resulting as split decision loss ending winning streak but still earning Fight Of The night bonus.[10][11]. Despite this setback Montana is looking forward to continuing developing within flyweight division while curating lasting legacy among MMA fans around world .
