Markus Perez is an up-and-coming fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight division. He was born on November 3, 1988 in Maringa, Brazil and began his martial arts training at the age of 15. He has trained under world renowned instructors such as Fabio Alves, Ricardo Liborio and Luiz Dorea.
Perez made his professional MMA debut in 2011 and has since enjoyed success throughout various regional promotions around Brazil. His skill set includes a variety of techniques such as judo throws, jiujitsu submissions and striking combinations all while displaying excellent cardiovascular endurance which allows him to push a high pace during fights. This aggressive style has earned him several finishes inside the distance over his career including two TKO wins over former UFC competitor Marcos Rogerio de Lima as well as first round submission wins over Victor Henrique Silva and Bruno Assis Santos respectively.
In 2016 he signed with Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) where he quickly established himself as one of their top Middleweights after knocking out Justin Rader via punches in just 0:43 seconds into the fight. He followed that up with another impressive performance against Eryk Anders where he submitted him by triangle choke within 1:38 minutes into the contest marking yet another quick finish for Markus Perez who had now won nine consecutive bouts leading up to this point
After establishing himself on the international stage it wasn’t long until Perez was offered a contract by UFC who needed more talent for their highly anticipated middleweight division at that time which included fighters like Anderson Silva & Robert Whittaker amongst others . Since joining them late 2017 ,he defeated James Bochnovic via unanimous decision before going on to suffer three losses out of four fights most recently being against Anthony Hernandez whom he lost to via technical knockout however despite these setbacks , Markus’s ability to compete at a very high level still stands strong so much so that when reporting about his upcoming bout against Joaquin Buckley , ESPN MMA Analyst Ariel Helwani noted “[…] Markuz is definitely one guy I look forward watching every time he steps into octagon […].”
Ultimately it remains unclear what lies ahead for Markus but if recent comments from UFC President Dana White are anything to go by then we can expect big things from this young Brazilian soon!
