Liana Jojua (born August 15, 1997) is a Georgian professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
A native of Tbilisi, Georgia, Liana began her martial arts journey while attending school at the age of fifteen. She started by training in Judo and then moved onto Muay Thai before eventually transitioning to MMA in 2017. In that same year she made her professional MMA debut for RCC Boxing Promotions where she won a unanimous decision against Olga Rubin. From there Liana went on to compete for multiple organizations throughout Europe including Red Devil Fight Nights and Cage Warriors before signing with the UFC in 2019.
In just two years as a professional mixed martial artist Liana has quickly become one of the most promising fighters from Eastern Europe. Not only does she boast an impressive 5-2 record but also carries herself with poise, intelligence and determination both inside and outside of the cage. Her style can be described as aggressive yet technical which allows her to take advantage of any opportunity presented to her through various strikes combinations or submissions attempts when necessary.
As part of UFC’s roster since early 2019, Liana has amassed quite an impressive resume so far with wins over Mara Romero Borella, Diana Belbita and Sarah Moras amongst others. She will be looking forward to continuing this success into 2021 as she looks to make it up higher up battle rankings within women’s flyweight division this year leading further into 2022 and beyond!
Outside off fighting career ,Liana is doing very well in education having recently graduated summa cum laude from Tbilisi State University with Bachelor’s Degree in Economics & Business Administration .She is currently working towards obtaining Masters degree from Gori State University .It shows how serious and passionate about succeeding not only inside octagon , but also out side it !
As we look ahead into future , fans should expect nothing less than great performances from young Georgian fighter now representing country at international level . With each passing day increasing focus on female fighters by UFC along with developing skillset under head coach Shota Chochishvili we can definitely see why many are keenly rooting for “Zuburi” to eventually reach heights never seen before!
