BIOGRAPHY

Laureano Staropoli is an Argentine professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He began his career in 2011 and has since accumulated a record of 10 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.

Staropoli was born on December 20th, 1990 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a child he enjoyed playing soccer but by age 15 he had shifted his focus to martial arts after watching MMA fights on television. He trained Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Marcelo Arroz for two years before transitioning to Muay Thai at age 17. During this time he also studied English and worked as a translator for several years until he decided to pursue MMA full-time in 2015.

In 2016 Staropoli made his professional debut with Aspera FC – winning four straight bouts before signing with the UFC in 2019. Since then he has gone 3-2; defeating Maki Pitolo at UFC 250 – Fight Night: Bonnar vs Silva , Tim Means at UFC 253 – Fight Night: Figueiredo vs Perez ,and Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 16 – Blaydes vs Volkov amongst others. His most recent fight against Muslim Salikhov ended in a split decision loss on June 5th 2021 during UFC 264 – Diaz vs Masvidal 2 .

Outside of fighting Staropoli enjoys reading books and spending time outdoors either surfing or going camping near the beach with friends or family members when not training at Xtreme Couture gym located in Las Vegas NV where he currently resides . The Argentinian native also loves playing video games such as Call Of Duty or FIFA and is an avid fan of Manchester United Fútbol Club – attending their matches whenever able despite now living across the Atlantic Ocean from Old Trafford Stadium .
