Lando Vannata is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He made his professional debut in 2013 and has since compiled a record of 11-4-2, with seven wins by knockout and three submissions.
Vannata was born on November 28th, 1992, in Jackson Township, New Jersey. His father was an amateur boxer and as a child Lando had dreams of becoming a professional athlete. At age 21 he began training at Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy under coach John Crouch where he quickly developed into one of the top prospects from the state. After compiling an impressive 8-0 amateur record, Vannata turned pro in 2013 and moved to Jackson’s main gym – The Pit – to focus more intensely on his MMA career.
Throughout his five years as a professional fighter Vannata has fought for several promotions including RFA & WSOF before signing with UFC in 2016 at just 24 years old after compiling an undefeated 9-0 record outside of UFC. In 2016 he made his UFC debut against Tony Ferguson but lost via submission within two rounds due to arm injury suffered during first round which forced him to tap out later while defending Ferguson’s triangle choke attempt during Round 2.
