Jason Witt (born November 15, 1989) is an American professional mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He began his career in 2017 and has since become a mainstay on the UFC roster.
Witt was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and began training MMA at age fourteen after being inspired to do so by watching UFC events with friends. His first amateur bout took place when he was sixteen years old. After high school, Witt moved to California where he trained Jiu-Jitsu under renowned coach Neil Melanson for three years before turning pro as a Mixed Martial Artist in 2017.
Witt made his professional debut at Bellator 183 against Johnny Cisneros, winning via unanimous decision. He went on to win his next two fights via submission – one at LFA 30 against Sean Holden and another at Contender Series 19 against Lucas Rota- resulting in him signing a multi-fight deal with the UFC shortly thereafter.
In 2019 Jason made his much anticipated octagon debut defeating Christian Aguilera at UFC Fight Night 162 via TKO due to doctor stoppage – earning him Performance of The Night bonus honors as well as Fight of The Night bonus honors along with his opponent (shared). This victory also earned him a spot on Fox Sports “Best Knockouts” list for that year. Since then, Witt has continued to prove himself as an exciting fighter capable of putting on entertaining performances each time he steps into the cage; thus earning himself four post fight bonuses from the promotion throughout 2020 alone!
His most recent performance saw him score yet another impressive knockout victory over Takashi Sato which earned him another Performance Of The night Bonus and improved his record within the organisation to 5 wins out of 6 fights overall – making it increasingly likely that we will continue seeing more great things from this promising young fighter for many years to come!
