Geraldo de Freitas is a professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has been competing professionally since 2010 and has won multiple titles at regional levels, including the Legacy Fighting Alliance Flyweight title.
De Freitas was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1986. He began training martial arts when he was 10 years old and earned his black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu when he was 19. De Freitas started his professional MMA career with Shooto Brazil where he earned notable victories over Gastao Carvalho, Alexandre Pimentel, and Rafael Dias da Silva. After racking up an impressive amateur record of 9-0 with 8 finishes by submission or TKO, De Freitas turned pro in September 2010 under the Shooto Brazil banner and went 6-2 during his first two years as a professional fighter.
In 2013 De Freitas made the move to North America where he joined Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) and went on to win four consecutive fights there before joining Legacy Fighting Championship (LFC) where he competed for several more bouts until eventually capturing their Flyweight title by defeating Steven Peterson via unanimous decision at LFC 49 in January 2018.
From there deFreitas moved on to join UFC Fight Night 137 as a short notice replacement against Mark De La Rosa which ended up being his UFC debut match; however it resulted him losing via split decision after three rounds of fight due to lack of time for preparation which could have been saved had secured a victory but nevertheless managed to put up an impressive performance against veteran opponent .
