BIOGRAPHY

Chris Weidman is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is a former UFC Middleweight Champion, having held the title from 2013-2015. As of August 2020, he is #3 ranked in the UFC Middleweight division.

Weidman was born on June 17th 1984, in Baldwin New York to his parents Charlynn and Jay Weidman. Growing up he was an avid athlete excelling at multiple sports including wrestling and football which led him to wrestle for Hofstra University where he earned All-American honors twice and graduated with a degree in Psychology. After college, Weidman decided to give Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) a try as a professional fighter after watching it on television with some friends.

Weidman made his MMA debut for Ring of Combat promotions in 2009 and quickly built up a record of 7 wins & 0 losses over two years before signing with the UFC in 2011.. In July 2011 Chris would make his octagon debut against Alessio Sakara and would go on to win by TKO via doctor stoppage due to cuts suffered by Sakara during their fight. This win earned Chris “Knockout of The Night” honors as well as Fight Of The Night Honors at UFC 139 later that year when he defeated Tom Lawlor at just 1:27 into round 2 with an arm triangle choke submission victory marking only his second fight inside the octagon!

Chris went on to have many more victories during his next several fights leading him straight towards becoming one of top contenders for Anderson Silva’s Middleweight championship belt where he won via KO/TKO victory less than 6 minutes into round 2 proving himself worthy of being crowned champion! He then successfully defended this belt against Lyoto Machida earning himself another Knockout Of The Night award bringing home total purse amounts greater than any other fighter that night! He also put forth great performances against Vitor Belfort & Luke Rockhold eventually losing it all against now retired Michael Bisping which ended up being his last fight till recently when he competed again after almost three year layoff .

Outside the ring , Chris has been very active promoting physical health awareness campaigns while still staying true to hos humility roots always keeping close ties within community through various charity initiatives such as sponsoring high school athletic programs or joining forces with Make A Wish Foundation events by granting wishes too those suffering from various ailments serving s reminder that even if not everyone can become champion they can still be heroes themselves making difference everyday through actions no matter how big or small !
