Alexis Davis is a professional mixed martial artist who has been competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship since 2013. She is best known for her accomplishments as an MMA fighter; she is currently the UFC Women’s flyweight champion and one of the most successful female athletes in history.
Davis was born on March 6, 1984, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. She began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the age of 15 under Saulo Ribeiro before transitioning to Muay Thai kickboxing when she graduated high school. After earning her black belt from Saulo Ribeiro, she began competing professionally and earned victories over notable fighters such as Sarah Kaufman and Julie Kedzie during her time with Strikeforce.
When Davis moved to the United States to pursue a career as a professional mixed martial artist, she joined Invicta FC where she won her first title by submitting Shayna Baszler via armbar submission at Invicta FC 6: Coenen vs Cyborg II. During this time period she also competed against some of the world’s top competitors including Jessica Eye (TUF 18 Finale), Liz Carmouche (UFC Fight Night 35) and Cat Zingano (The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale).
In 2013 Davis signed with Ultimate Fighting Championship where she had wins against Rosi Sexton and Leslie Smith at UFC Fight Night 33: Hunt vs Bigfoot respectively In 2014 Davis challenged Ronda Rousey for UFC bantamweight championship but was defeated by stoppage due to strikes after two rounds at UFC 175 on July 5th that year. Despite this loss it highlighted just how much talent Alexis possessed which prompted many fans to label her one of “the faces of women’s MMA.”
Following this defeat Davis continued fighting successfully holding wins against Jessica Eye (UFC 170), Sarah Kaufman (UFC 186) Larissa Pacheco( TUF 21 finale) Sara McMann (The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale ) Viviane Pereira( Dana White Contender Series 2 ) Jennifer Maia( Dana White Contender Series Dave & Buster’s Wednesday Fight Night 1 ) She then proceeded to challenge Valentina Shevchenko for vacant Flyweight championship title ultimately losing via split decision but showing great skill during fight.(UFC 259).
Outside The Octagon ,She runs “WifeySports Podcast” alongside fellow MMA fighter Megan Anderson which they created while discussing their love for sports entertainment business culture music fashion etc.. Also owns Pilates studio named “Mind Body Flow Fitness Studio . Alexis has proven herself multiple times through out long hard journey making it impossible not mention when listing greatest female fighters all time .
