BIOGRAPHY

Michael Gilmore is a professional mixed martial artist and current UFC fighter. He was born on December 26, 1987 in South Florida. Michael began practicing martial arts at a young age, primarily focusing on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. After high school he moved to New York City where he trained under UFC veteran Renzo Gracie for several years before moving back to Florida and joining the American Top Team camp.

In 2010, Michael made his professional debut with BAMMA USA, winning his first two fights by submission via rear naked chokeholds. His success in the promotion earned him a spot on The Ultimate Fighter reality show; however an injury suffered while training prevented him from competing in the competition.

After recovering from his injury Michael returned to MMA action in 2012 with NAAFS and won four consecutive matches before signing with Bellator Fighting Championships two years later. There he competed for two years, amassing an impressive 7-2 record which included notable wins over Travis Clark and Johnny Buckner as well as challenging for both the Middleweight Championship belt against Doug Marshall and Light Heavyweight title against Liam McGeary respectively (but losing both).

At that point of time Michael decided it was time to make the jump up to the big leagues; thus signed up with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) during 2017 season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series event where he won via unanimous decision against Jonathan Wilson due to effective striking technique that resulted in him being taken into consideration by UFC officials who eventually signed him onto their roster once they saw potential upside within his game play style & strategy despite having only eight professional fights under his belt, placing him among those few fighters who managed accomplish such achievement without going through rigorous international circuit competitions beforehand like other highly ranked athletes usually do prior gaining entry into world’s top MMA organization today.
