BIOGRAPHY

Danny Henry, born on July 17, 1988, is an accomplished Scottish professional mixed martial artist who has competed prominently in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His prolific career in this premium division probably started on the streets of Scotland, where he developed a passion that transformed him into a renowned UFC fighter. Since embarking on his professional journey in 2011, Danny Henry quickly exhibited his prowess and tenacity, amassing an impressive record of 10-2 before joining the UFC.

Before his global acclaim, Henry honed his skills in South Africa. Competing under the banner of the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Worldwide, the majority of his fights were staged there. Making waves in the fighting scene, his final bid under EFC Worldwide saw him beating Igeu Kabesa for the featherweight championship. This victory marked a significant milestone in his career, cementing his reputation as a formidable force in mixed martial arts.

By the time July 16, 2017, rolled around, Henry was ready to make his promotional UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 113. His first bout was against Daniel Teymur. Demonstrating excellent fighting skills, Henry came out victoriously by unanimous decision, earning him the “Fight of the Night” honors. This was an accolade that served to amplify his reputation and affirm his undoubted ability in the UFC scene.

As if to prove his point further, Henry confronted Hakeem Dawodu on March 17, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 127. Despite Dawodu being a significant favorite, Henry rose to the occasion, securing a win just 39 seconds into the first round using a classic guillotine maneuver.

However, the MMA journey is rarely straightforward. On March 16, 2019, at UFC Fight Night 147, Henry suffered a setback when he lost to Dan Ige, submitted via a rear-naked choke in the first round. He was then poised to take on Mike Davis on September 26, 2019, at UFC Fight Night 160 but had to back out mid-September due to unspecified reasons, leading to Davis getting pulled from the card.

Henry was also scheduled to fight Peter Barrett, a promotional newcomer, on April 25, 2020. This event was, however, postponed following an announcement by Dana White, the President of UFC. He then faced Makwan Amirkhani on July 12, 2020, at UFC 251, which unfortunately culminated in a defeat via a submission in round one.

Known for his resilience, Henry was expected to bounce back in a bout with Ricardo Ramos on September 3, 2022, at UFC Fight Night 209. Nevertheless, Henry withdrew from the bout for undisclosed reasons, leading to its cancellation.

Throughout his illustrious career, Danny Henry has displayed remarkable commitment and resilience, demonstrating an unwavering determination to succeed. This, coupled with his enormous talent, has firmly solidified him as one of the shining lights of the Featherweight division. Despite some setbacks, his journey in the world of MMA remains an inspiration to many aspiring fighters in Scotland and around the world.
