BIOGRAPHY
Brandon Moreno is one of the most promising young stars in the UFC. He was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, and has been involved with martial arts since his teenage years. Moreno began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 16 years old under Master Paulo Guillobel in Tijuana, Mexico. After a few short months of training he won his first amateur MMA fight by submission. From there he went on to compete in many other amateur fights until eventually making it to the professional level where he quickly established himself as one of the top Flyweights out of Mexico and Latin America.
Moreno made his UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 24: Tournament of Champions finale when he replaced an injured Tim Elliott against Ryan Benoit, winning via split decision. His spectacular victory attracted attention from fans around the world and helped set up a rematch against Benoit at UFC Fight Night 98 which ended up being an exciting back-and-forth battle before Moreno earned another split decision victory over “Baby Face” Ryan Benoit for his second win inside the Octagon. After this impressive performance, Moreno continued to build on his impressive resume by earning victories over Geane Herrera (TKO) Louis Smolka (submission), Sergio Pettis (unanimous decision) and Dustin Ortiz (split decision).
In 2017 Brandon was given an opportunity to challenge Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson for the Flyweight Championship title but lost via unanimous decision after five rounds – although some felt that Moreno may have done enough to secure a draw or even pull off a shock win over Johnson who had not been defeated since 2011 before that fight!
