BIOGRAPHY

Abu Azaitar (born April 8, 1987) is a German-Moroccan professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Azaitar was born in Berlin, Germany and lived there until he was 9 years old when his family moved back to their native country Morocco. During that time, Abu fell in love with martial arts and eventually decided to pursue it professionally. He took up kickboxing at the age of 14 before transitioning into MMA at 17, training under former UFC fighter David Baron. After some success on the European circuit he signed with German MMA promotion Aspera FC in 2011 and became welterweight champion of the organization shortly after making his debut for them in 2013.

In 2015, Abu made his UFC debut against Paolo Thiago as part of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4 Finale card where he won via first-round knockout . Since then has gone undefeated within the octagon amassing a record of 7 wins – including victories over Gasan Umalatov, Omari Akhmedov and Mounir Lazzez – 1 draw and 0 losses thus far inside the octagon leading him to becoming one of Europe’s brightest prospects for future championship contention.
