Movsar Evloev is set to have a new opponent at UFC 288 with Diego Lopes replacing the previously scheduled Bryce Mitchell.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources that Mitchell has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming main card featherweight bout against Evloev, after ESPN Deportes was first to report the news. The reason for Mitchell’s withdrawal has not been disclosed.
This fight would have marked Mitchell’s second attempt of facing off against Evloev as they were also expected to face each other at UFC Vegas 64 last November, however due to an injury, Evloev withdrew from that booking. Prior to this booking snafu and despite being on short notice himself, Evloev stepped in as a replacement for Jonathan Pearce, who he was originally going up against at UFC 288. As such far in his career since joining the promotion back in 2019 via Dana White’s Contender Series, he’s gone 6-0 considering wins over Dan Ige and Hakeem Dawodu among others.
Meanwhile, stepping into replace Mitchell will be 20-5 Lopes who most recently competed at Lux Fight League event just last November where he defeated Angel Rodriguez via second round TKO which extended his winning streak 9 out of 11 bouts prior to that one which included an appearance on the same Contender Series where he lost a unanimous decision ta Joanderson Brito .
So be sure tune into watch this exciting featherweight bout between Movsar Evevlo and Diego Lopes when it goes down under Saturday night lights during UFC 288!
