UFC 244 is upon us and as usual, we have the most in-depth and accurate Gastelum vs Till Predictions for your bets and parlays. Today we’re breaking down UFC 244’s co-main middleweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Darren Till.
Darren Till’s Path to Victory
Darren Till came on the scene with sheer dominance of his welterweight opponents. That was until he reached the top of the mountain and welterweight champ showed Till how to lose. In an attempt to bounce back, Till dropped his second loss to headliner Jorge Masvidal via KO. Till has since made the jump to the weight above in hopes to display a less depleted version of himself. He is not taking a step down in competition however as he is taking on the only man to come close defeating now champ Israel Adesanya. Ironically, Till will be the larger of the two as he comes up to 185 lbs. class. Till will need to use that strength and reach to pick Gastelum apart on the outside. He will need to be an elusive matador to deal with Gastelums forward marching haymakers. He will also need to keep it standing as he does not have the grappling pedigree to match his opponent’s. If Till can go back to his quick start style and catch Kelvin early, or at the least gain his respect in striking, he can outstrike him from the outside.
Kelvin Gastelum’s Path to Victory
Gastelum is the betting favorite, and for good reason. He is a knockout artist that marches down every opponent he faces. And if that wasn’t enough, he has top tier wrestling to stifle his opponent further. He is also gritty and durable, as we saw in his five round brawl with the current champ. If Gastelum keeps the fight close and mixes in takedowns, it will be a long night for Till. Training alongside triple C, Henry Cejudo, we are likely to see more wrestling out of the former top contender.
UFC 244 Prediction
Kelvin Gastelum by TKO, round three. Rarely do I give such precise predictions, however the style of how these two match up are very apparent. Gastelum can take it to the ground should he get in trouble, and Till has not shown the ability to survive in a ground war. As long as there is no flash knockout by Till, we will be seeing a Adesanya vs. Till 2 in 2020.
